Thanks guys for your advice on sediment from my first post. To clarify my brewing technique which obviously I didn't before, I will say I use a rack and cane as suggested by some of you, I also use the little plastic piece to put on the bottom as some suggested as well. I also do not put the rack and cane into the yeast rather It sits above the yeast, I use my rack and cane to siphon the beer into the bottleing bucket like everyone else in the hobby and I completely understand, straining the beer as you are adding it to the bottleing bucket will create loads of oxidation. Ok, having said that:

What if, I took a grain bag, hops bag etc and tied it on the end of the siphon that is in the bottling bucket but I rest it at the bottom to prevent splash and oxidation. In the bag, I make sure I attach it almost like a sock that is loose so it lays in the bottom of the bucket. As the beer is siphoning over, the bag gently collects any sediment brought over. Once I am finished I SLOWLY pull the bag out allowing it to GENTLY drain into The rest of the beer hopefully resulting in crystal clear beer.

I think I am going to just give it a go and try it. At the end of the day I hope to have a beer that I like but is clear with nothing floating. I know I know, some of you like that stuff but to me it might be about presentation too so I might give it a go.

I will let you guys know how it turned out.

Time in a fermenter will help clarify it a lot too.

Yes, I usually keep it in for 3 weeks but still, not perfect. trying to get everything out if possible. I think I can do it as long as everything is sanitized, I add no oxygen and take my time.
 
Do you rack to a clarifying vessel after 3 weeks and let it sit another week?

And getting crystal clear beer while bottle conditioning takes a lot of time conditioning in the bottle as well and another week in the fridge.
 
i use the strainer technique when i use pellets for dry-hopping. really soak the straining bag before you put it near the beer. Local paint supply or HD would have nylon paint strainers for sprayers, ($2.50) i cut one down and rubberband it to the end of the racking cane. problem is keeping it from clogging too much.

No I have not, the reason for that is for me, I don't like to expose the beer to oxygen unless I am going to bottle it. That may be a good thing for me to try.

wow you have alot bottled...lol I would have drank it already.

Siphon it quietly and you won't expose it to any oxygen.

I did this with a grain bag on my last batch. It's still being bottle conditioned so I don't know exactly how it turned out yet. But it did catch some hops (dry hopped) and some other sediment.

we did a marathon of brewing between thanksgiving and newyears. getting ready for company. two blizzards hit and most of the guests couldn't make it. More for me i guess.

Yea I was gonna say. When I have a batch of beer ready to go It is so damn hard to gently go through. I will pound alot of em if they are good and before I know it, I have lots of bottles laying around
 
I think in primary you are gonna leave about 90% of what you don't want behind.

In secondary you are going to leave 90% of what's rest behind, so it's a pretty simple way to clear the beer.

Oxygen can hit the beer, just don't let in dissolve in the beer.
