Question on foam in carboy

First of all, this site is awesome and I appreciate the beer expertise that everyone shares here.

As a first time brewer, I have a question concerning the krausen forming a the top of my carboy. It's very thick and I feel like I might have put the fermentation lock on too soon before it could get it all out through the overflow hose which I left on for the first 2 days. I'm 7 days into the fermentation process and the fermentation lock is bubbling about every 7 seconds or so. Is all this krausen going to ruin my beer. Should I not worry about it? Is there a method to get rid of it before I bottle?

The krausen will go away on its own in time...be patient, it will fall out and settle to the bottom...it is just the yeast doing their work...... When you rack to your bottling bucket you will leave 99% of that crud in the the carboy..then in the bottling bucket will lose most of whats left. leave the beer where it is at until the gravity reading is steady for 3-4 days, THEN leave it another week at least.
 
I'll give you one more "don't worry." Just watch the airlock--the only thing you have to worry about is krausen in your airlock. Because if there's too much material in there, your vodka/sanitizer will stop being a barrier for contaminants and become a conductor.

If that happens, you'll probably slap a blowoff tube on there until your fermentation calms down a bit. Then just replace the airlock when the coast is clear.

Other than that--don't worry. That krausen will go down and disappear into the beer after a while.
