So far I've done at least 10 and probably more like 15 BIAB batches. Recently I started to make some wheat beers and the centennial blonde. They come in at around 4-5% abv.

I really like the flavor of these beers. They have a very malty flavor with little to no hops. Is this normal for these beers to be really malty? Could this be DMS or something like that? They basically just use 2 row and wheat and a small amount of other grains.

Why haven't I ever bought craft beer that tastes so malty?

I use Kolsch and American Ale yeast that has been harvested from starters.

I mean the malt flavor is huge on these beers. Almost as much as Yooper's Dead Guy Ale clone.

Low hops equals higher malt flavors....... it's a balance.

H.W.

I just made a 4th of July lawnmower type beer... just 2-row and rice. Smelled so amazingly malty I couldn't believe it.

Compared to my 3 vessel lighter beers, my BIAB ones taste much, much more malty and flavorful.

It's the number one thing people say when they like my beer - so much flavor!

So all of this favor is because of biab? I figured a light beer coming in at 4% would be much more like the cheap stuff.

It's like the cheap stuff, but with tons of flavor. Seriously, try it. Much more flavor than your usual American lager, even better than most mainstream imports.

I honestly don't get why their beers taste so watery. Even with tons of adjuncts, even cutting them with water and no crystal or specialty malts, the BIAB homebrew versions are much better.

Okay so this is all normal. I wasn't sure what was going on here. Wheat and blonde beers almost tasting like malt bombs just didn't seem right to me.

Their beer tastes watery because they want it to taste watery because that's what the mass-swilling population wants (icy cold, no flavour). All homebrewed versions will taste better because we brew them to taste what we call 'better'.
