Not my own age - I've learned plenty of those terms by now :).

When reading threads in this forum, I often encounter someone saying something like "At about 6 months, it gets <insert positive adjective here>." But 6 months from when? From pitching? from bottling?

My guess has been that it is 6 months from pitching since it seems to vary quite a bit how long someone will wait before bottling. But I would appreciate clarification on where aging is normally measured from, or if it is normally even measured from one particular point.

I would consider it be timed since fermentation has ceased. Well at least that's when I usually time. A few weeks wouldn't make too much difference in the long run anyway.
