I have a question for those using the March or Little Giant pumps.

Is it necessary to vorlauf to clear the wort before pumping out of the MT?

I use a bazooka tube in my cooler MT and I do get a grainy run off for the first 4-6 qts. After that it clears nicely. Can these pumps handle the initial solids or should I perform some manual recirculation prior to running thru the pump?

thanks,
jason

Mine either. Just make sure to run the valve only partially open rather than full so decrease the suction from your MLT. I leave the MLT wide open but restrict my pump 'out' valve to half way or less to avoid a brick of grains.

thanks guys,

Just the info I needed - and that was my next question badgerbrewer.
