It's starting to get pretty cold up here in the north especially when brewing with the garage door open. My garage had a filtration system that the previous owner had installed for fiberglass work, I have a fan that pulls air out and another that pumps in fresh air, and I wanted to know if it would be safe to use my propane burners inside the garage with the doors closed and the fans running? Or do I have to man up and keep brewing with the door open?

I am most definitely NOT an expert, but if you add a box fan to keep the air at floor level stirred up so no carbon monoxide builds up, it sure would seem that you'll be fine. Just to be on the safe side, maybe have a small bird in a cage?:)

Should be fine. Spend $35 on a good CO detector so you can be certain.

+1 million on this ... I brew in my garage from time to time , I always leave doors cracked open and use fans and a CO detector. A good size fire extinguisher is a good idea too.

I just finished brewing with my burner in the garage, I leave the door cracked open about 18" and set the burner right next to it. Seems to work fine for me, YMMV.

I brew in my garage during winter / rain. Personally, I'd rather be cold then dead. Garage door and back door both open all the way.

CO is so dangerous and usually it is too late by the time you realize something is wrong.

If you are serious about brewing in an enclosed indoor space with propane, please use multiple CO detectors, and have someone check in on you regularly.

Really depends on your burner.... If you have a turkey fryer "blow-torch", I would be very careful.... If its a banjo burner quality adjustable burner.... and you run it so there is no red/yellow flame, you should be fine. People have indoor propane appliances like gas stoves and if you have all four burners going full bore you should still be safe.... so with fans in circulation in the garage, a larger, less "tight" space can't see how there is an issue.

BTW, I have been brewing in my unheated garage w/ a gable type exhaust fan for over 4 years.

Brewed in a garage for 60+ batches, crack the door and a window, no problem.
