i have my first batch in the bucket, i have never kegged beer before, was wondering if you could use the hand pump tap, instead of the co2 bottle kind?

Only if you can drink it all in a day, those pumps introduce oxygen into your beer, not good.

+1 Once your beer oxigenates it will skunk within a day or so. If you dont have a CO2 tank and you cant drink it in a day then I would bottle it, otherwise all your time/effort will have been wasted.

no i don't think i will be drinking that much in a day! don't know why i didn't think of that before i asked, my question is answered. thanks!!

it will not skunk!!! it will change in flavor however due to the oxygen in solution.

if the beer skunked do you think that cask ales would sell as good as they do?
