OK, probably a very common sense question, but I need to ask. When adding extract at kegging, here's my plan.

Before kegging, take a 2 oz sample of the beer. Then add one drop of extract, taste and see if it's good.

Assuming one drop is good for the 2 ounces, and my keeging volume is 4.5 gallons, would I simply take my total kegging ounces of 576 and divide by 2 (2ounce sample) = 288 drops??

Seems like alot of drops.

The math makes sense but the extract addition will probably be overpowering. One drop in 2 oz and you'll probably only taste the flavor you're adding. Maybe try this experiment on a commercial beer first just to gauge the drop to beer ratio before testing on your precious homebrew.

You are not writing about malt extract I take it, but a flavoring extract like vanilla? 288 drops would equal 0.6316 ounces or 18.6775 ml.

Too much? Depends upon the flavor strength of the extract.

I would use a larger sample of the beer for the taste test. You may only get the true taste and residual flavors after the third or fourth mouthful.

Sound like a good idea. I will test it tonight on a 12oz pumkin ale (yes, mine is also a pumkin).

Thanks!
