I am planning on building my keezer here pretty soon. I have seen all kinds of designs on here and am milling some things over in my head. I dont really want (nor am I capable) of building anything fancy like so many of you have (jealous by the way) and just am looking to do some basic appearance additions. My first question is on the length of the shank. Can I get away with a 4 inch shank on my faucet if I am going to use a 2x6 with another 1x6 decorative molding on top of that for my collar? The totatl thickness of wood should be about 2.25 inches but I am not sure how much more space I will need for ther other pieces to put the shank and faucet together?

I think you'd be fine with a 4" shank. I haven't measured but I don't think you lose more than an inch to the fittings. I'll try to remember to check for you when I get home.
