Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has had any issues using john guest type ball valves on CO2 lines? I'm about to change my CO2 to keg set up and was thinking of using these rather than a manifold, but it looks like some of these models aren't necessarily rated for use with gas.

e.g. Speedfit To Speedfit Connector | John Guest
(this seems to be the most common one available)

Would these be likely to leak?

Cheers

It would be easy enough to do a bit of empirical testing by hooking up a couple of valves to a gas cylinder and dunking them in water...
Exactly!
It may well be the valves themselves having a tendency to (small) leaks, not the push-in fittings.

Not at all really, in fact I think I already have some of the duotight valves lying around from a previous project (and plan on going 5/16 to the keg anyways), just wasn’t sure how reliable they are for gas.

Cheers!

Test them out. I have a bunch of them and one was leaky. The rest work great.
