I need a stronger pump for recirculating in the Boiler and in Mush tun. The liquid goes thru a 20' long chiller and needs some power, any suggestion for a better pump that would work really well in high hit condition and perform well for longer tubing ?

Her riptide could be an option however it's still 7gpm.

The current one is a chugger if if remember well is a 7gpm.

let me know if you have a hands on experience with these pumps or similar. Thank you!

What size tubing in the coil?

Chugger, Riptide and March pumps are all pretty close in performance, I'd be surprised if any one of them would perform significantly better than the others in your application. I run March 815pl pumps, on the HLT side with a 50' 1/2" hex, and there's more than enough volume through it and the associated valves and hoses (there's really not much to slow down the other pump on the BK side).

Cheers!

Ive run both Chugger and March. Never have had a sinlge issue with either of them. Used them on two Brutus 10 systems and one MoreBeer 2050.

Quick disconnects will be a valuable asset on brew day. Hoses and liquid transfer are a huge part of your system

I have issues with my chugger priming at times and some other times when the liquid gets hot it makes a huge noise. I am going to replace the impeller, I think it got out of specs and moves funny.

I have two of these for 5 years and the one I use for HLT works as new the other one game me some hard time!

Thanks for replying y'all!

A couple of things: these pumps are more identical than different, so if you're having priming issues with a Chugger, it's likely you'd have the same problem with either a March or Blichmann; and none of them will be happy trying to draw boiling wort from the bottom of a kettle.

It's physics, and it won't be denied: simplified, pulling negative pressure at the boil outlet causes the wort to emit steam, which cavitates the pump head. Greatly reducing flow rate (to like 25% of max) usually helps...

Cheers!

I have one of these for whirlpooling a 3bbl BK... its super powerful , blew the hose right off the barb and fired water 25ft across the room during water tests... its like 48gpm... great for CIP too.

I have a riptide too and its plenty strong for a homebrewing pump. its a bit stronger than a chugger.

Was having performance issues with one of my pumps so I replaced the impeller, performance increased noticeably. The new impeller was significantly larger in diameter than the old one, leading me to believe the vanes wear down with use.

The Chugger and March I have take the same impeller.
