Pump configuration

So, according to BYO's pump position diagram, it shows the exit port to the left...and with reference to this pump, would the pump head being positioned in an opposite configuration impede the flow at all? Assuming all pump impellers rotate clockwise, I would think having the exit port to the left as opposed to the right would be much more efficient...or does it not matter? Thanks in advance.

That's a center-inlet that clearly must rotate counter-clockwise when viewed head-on.
No reason why that can't be true, it's simply a matter of turning the utility motor around...

So, these pump motors can turn the impellers either direction? It's not a "all pumps turn impellers clockwise" thing?

Not "turn the impellers in either direction", just "all pump heads don't have to rotate clockwise".

Again, even if every induction motor ever made rotated "in the same direction" in one orientation, if you turn the whole thing around and use the other end of the motor shaft, the effective rotation is now counter-clockwise...

I recommend to position the head with the outlet right at the top. This means there will be no bubble when priming.

I guess I just can't wrap my head around this statement. How the heck can I, "...turn the whole thing around and use the other end of the motor shaft..."? Or, was this statement just to prove that if you were able to use the other end of the motor shaft, the rotation direction would be the opposite? Thanks again.

I recommend to position the head with the outlet right at the top. This means there will be no bubble when priming.

Right, take a look inside and you'll see this configuration has the outlet right at the top.

The second statement.

Bottom line, that pump head requires the rotor to turn counter-clockwise. If it couldn't be done it wouldn't exist...
