Has anyone put a ds18b20 probe in thier Hot Rod tube?
I've put a similar RTD probe in mine...I can say that the cable looks thicker on that one you pictured, you will probably have trouble running it down the tube. The RTD wiring I used was the standard kind, and it worked well.
As far as the sensor goes, it just rests on the bottom, no need to secure it. However, there is ~3-5 degrees difference, at least comparing the PID to an analog bimetal thermometer.
Has anyone put on twist lock plugs on the cord of their hot rod? Mine is currently wired up w/ about 12' of 10/3 cord and it's a PITA when washing. The cord flops around all over and it's just kind of heavy. I bought a L6-30 male/female plug set and am thinking about cutting my cord and wiring those in. When it's time to clean up, I twist off the cord and only have the hot rod to deal with.
Not a bad idea, but expensive and bulky....and consider that if you have a sensor you will have to add a QD to that.....how aggressively are you washing it? I just laid mine on the ground, lightly scrubbed, then sprayed. It should not be heavily soiled unless you are free-floating your hops.
Yeah in concerned that it won't fit. I do have a stainless thermowell that's about 12 inches. Maybe I can attach it with a couple stainless hose clamps. Beyond that I'm just concerned the wires for these probes may not be able to handle the heat. Though it will in be to warm warm to about 168 at most.
You can easily fit the type of sensor you have in the tube. just buy this http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/121908...7290-0%26rvr_id%3D1004263613581&ul_noapp=true instead of the already made probe and secure it to the sidewall of the hotrod
Soak in molasses for a few days. 1 part molasses 5 parts water, will come up like new.Bobby is there a replacement part for where the element threads into for the hot rod? I can't seem to get the old rusted element out now that I bought your stainless element
