Need a cheapie suggestion for a box to house a single PID, SSR and electrical outlet. The Auberins looks nice, but trying to keep cost as low as possible. The parts have not arrived yet, so not sure on actual size required.

Most will say something fireproof.I used a DeWalt saw box I had laying around (plastic). It worked out nice.Opened up it was easy to work on,flip a latch and I was ready to brew

If you are hard-wiring box and element power, will definitely save some room... you could get away with using an Ammo box
Are you adding switched facilities for pump(s)

No pumps, etc. Just a simple 2 Gallon kitchen countertop BIAB setup, 120V 1500W element, and a temp control. I just need a simple box for the 3 parts, maybe something from Lowes or home Depot?, but not sure of the dimensions required. I use Mr Beer kegs as fermenters.

You can get a Hammond project box on Amazon for about ten bucks. Careful arrangement of the components allows you to easily fit a PID, SSR and an outlet of your choice inside.

I used a grey plastic box from Lowes, around $9.00. I put the heatsink on the outside, one set of outlets with the gang removed, a PID, ssr and two toggle switches. The box doubles as sous vide controller, and I didn't want a metal box scratching the granite kitchen counter.

1) Go on ebay and pick up an old school He-Man metal lunch box for ~$20.

2) Wire up your controller in it.

3) Become a Master of The Brewniverse.

Pretty sure nobody has any control box cooler than that.

(Now I wait to be chastised for recommending cutting holes in a vintage lunch box)

I used the larger 12x12x8 version that lowes or the home depot sells... They are actually made to be electrical boxes too which is a plus if your one of those guys that are superstitious about electricity :p

I used the same box for both my fermenter control panel and my super budget $300 brewing control panel only I did replace the front panel after butchering the original plastic one...
