ok, i followed the instructions in the beer kit i got (just read that this is not good) and want to see how bad they were so i dont make the mistake twice.
Ok, i brought the water to a boil, took off the burner, added the liquid extract and corn sugar. then brought to a rolling boil, for ten minutes, then cooled it uncovered. once i did that, poured it into my primary fermenter, pitched the yeast, stirred the heck out of it, and then closed it. i have a bag of something, (not at home so i cant look at it at the moment) that was a white powder, but didnt use it because it wasn't included in the instructions.
on here, i read that you boil normally for an hour, and then you add hops the last ten minutes. Were my instructions that far off? does that mean dont put in all of the liquid extract and save some for the end?
