pro mash

ok just downloaded pro mash and have to say it is awsome next brew day i'm definitely using it. tells you basically everything you need to know.

wondering though for those of you that have used both pro mash and beer smith. how do they compare and what are the pros and cons to each?

They all basically do the same thing. I think it's moreso a race between beersmith and beertoolspro at this point since they're both frequently updated with new features. I have to admit though that I've never used promash because it was already getting stale when I was shopping around.

As Bobby_M said, they all do basically the same thing so give them all a try and go with the one that has an interface that you like. Personally I didn't care for Beersmith, I really like promash. I haven't gotten around to BTP yet but I plan to. As he also mentioned the biggest issue with promash is it doesn't seem to be in active development anymore.

ProMash is excellent! But out of date. While it is still a fully functional platform it lacks some improvements that other systems have received. They ProMash forum can be helpful but slow. And you are more likely to get a response from a user than you are from the developer.

ProMash hasn't seen an update since 2003.

Despite this, I have paid for 3 copies of ProMash. Not so much to support ProMash for future developement but more to help with a fight against cancer. Several months ago the developer announced that his wife is battling.

So, again, ProMash is an excellent program. Your moneys have furthered to help battle cancer. You have done a great thing by buying ProMash.

But, if you feel limited thgere are BeerToolsPro and, my choice, BeerSmith. Both of these offer a limited demo so you can get a feel.

i like promash. that what i use. my local HBS uses promash so i can just send him my rec files & bam he got my stuff. I also posted a fix for finding your recipes in vista & in vista also run it in xp mode works better
