Probably overthinking this one but here goes. I'm going to bottle my first IPA this afternoon. I have just over 5 gallons cold crashing now. Not sure exactly how much I'll get into the bottling bucket. I have 5 oz of priming sugar. It came with my kit. Should I be confident with just using it all? Thanks.

What does the kit instructions say? Use the instructions on the kit...DO NOT use the instructions on priming sugar package as they are often different. If the kit is unclear...use the search option to see what others have done using the kit that you are using. There is free priming calculators available online...but better to see what has worked for others with your kit. A while back I was very concerned with my Caribou Slobber kit that I bottled. I used the entire package and my buddy was concerned that I over primed. After reading my instructions again...it said 2/3 cup....well 2/3 cup equates to 5.5 ounces...so if anything I may have undercarbed a tad!

Google Brewers Friend and there is all kinds of different brewing calculators on there. You are going to find you likely going to need most if not all the 5oz package.

Here is a calculator to use. Also shows the different sugars you can use for priming. Measuring priming sugar is best done by weight rather than volume.

I will usually bottle 4.75 gallons of beer from the initial 5 gallons I put into the fermentor. In the calculators I use 5 gallons as batch size. I keep this in my notes. If I consider it over or under carbed, according to what I like, I will change the amount the next time.

I don't carb to style. I carb to what I prefer.

Not much diffrence in sugar recommended between 5 gallons and 4.75 gallons.
