Is there any downside to leaving my christmas ale in primary for 3 weeks instead of 2 week before transferring to secondary? The sg is at 1.017 at 2 weeks.
 
Most of us don't even bother with a secondary anymore. The only time I ever transfer to secondary is when I'm adding a lot of fruit.
 
Unless I'm oaking or something,I don't secondary either. Sounds like it's def not done yet at 1.017. Give it another week,& test it again.
