I'm going to be doing my first brew with steeping grains this coming Saturday and I'm wondering how well my pre-crushed grains are going to hold up. I ordered them through Northern Brewer...they were shipped yesterday and are due to arrive tomorrow. I was told a while back that having your grains pre-crushed is a bad idea, but I don't really have a choice since I don't have a mill and have heard that the rolling pin technique isn't a good way to crush. Thoughts? I'd hate to have to put off brewing because my grains could go bad.

If you are not going to use them for a few weeks, you should store them in a cool, dry place sealed up.
