Wondering how others go about cleaning their kettles and hoses after a brew day. PBW suggests running their product through your system, but also to use similarly heated water to rinse. Do you guys have a separate heated kettle to rinse the PBW off?

I’m putting together a herms setup and wondering what would be the best way to clean. Thank you.

I pour pwb into hot water and recirc... then I dump through dump valve and repeat with just water... after thats done I repeat again with less water. all my pumping and valves and pumps are hard plumbed inline as well as my cartridge heater rims. I actuate the valves while pumping to clean the cavity behind the ball This method has worked great to keep things clean for my over the years as periodic inspections have shown me.

While chilling the wort, I use the hot water coming out of my chiller to clean up my MLT. A scrubby with a little BKF, rinse, and done. I then fill the HLT about 1/4 to 1/2. The water is still pretty hot. So, it heats up to around 180F very quickly. I then run it through the pumps, coil, and use it to clean the boil kettle and chiller. About every 5 or so batches, I do the same steps but add some PBW to the HLT. I break down the pump heads and give them a good soak at 150-170F. I reassemble and run the PBW through the pumps for 5-10 minutes. I then run some heated rinse water through the pumps for 5 minutes and done. Once a year I break down all the ball valves and give them a good long hot PBW soak.

I've seen PBW leave a scale on stainless if you rinse it with cold water.

I second the fact that pbw is not needed between each use... if im doing a lot of brewing I only do the pbw cip when its been sitting more than a couple days or about every few brew sessions.

I do clean my mt and BK in the sink though after every brew as well.
cleaning varies dramatically here though.. Some people constantly pull all the weldless fitting and clean behind them which is really pointless and unecessary on the hot side if they are installed right.
some people even sanitize everything on the hotside.... again, Why? lack of knowledge? OCD?
