You might try asking some local farmers who they go to for welding repairs. My experience is that the best little shops for this kind of small job are not always listed in the phone book.

Stainless steel pots ? You'll need to match the base metal. 304, 308, 309, and 316 are common types of stainless and E308L is a good all-around electrode unless the base metal is 309...

just dont let some hackjob stick weld it in. get a decent guy who can tig and finish the backside properly.

I found out when getting my custom SS exhaust done on my tuner why it takes so long to weld SS. The metal gets very hot & carbonizes or something like that. That's what the welder told me anyway. So getting a good strong weld on stainless takes time to do properly.

All good advice.
What about solder? Dimpling? I saw a post on that and it looked good and I could probably pull it off myself.

They're already punch and Im using a giant not and gasket.

SS can be soldered, but you need to use silver solder & acid flux. It's a clear liquid in a little bottle you drip onto the area to be soldered right before touch the hot iron with the solder on it to the area. Make sure area is well-ventilated though.

Thanks... Im going to look into it.

I dimpled my own ss pot. and soldered it myself . If you have a MAPP torch and some silver solder it is not hard to do. Just get the Liquid SS flux not the paste. For some reason the paste doesn't work. Had to find out the hard way. Good Luck

Yeah, silver solder is harder, needing more heat than regular solder. I used to have to different heat range tips for my Ungar. One lower temp for regular & higher heat for silver. You have to use acid flux because of the higher heat & temper of the silver solder.

Nice.. Thanks for the info.
