Picked up this stainless steel surplus coffee urn. Was installed on a ship, if you can believe it. It appears to have a steam jacket, with two sight glasses and valves. I'm wondering if I would be better off selling/trading this thing for all grain brewing equipment as opposed to converting it for my use. It really does look cool!

I haven't verified specs, but there is number 15 stamped on the drum.... Maybe 15 gallons or so? Looks about right.

I would think with the steam jacket, if useable would make a fine MLT. Get working on it!

You could fire it with an electric element, and just use the jacket as an insulating air space.

Thanks for the input folks. It does seem to lend itself to being a HLT, doesn't it? I read a bit about a HERMS? setup...,. I'm intrigued!
