Had a hankering to break in my new mash tun saturday Soooo, I did it! :rockin: BUT it didn't come without some rookie mistakes whick are making me a little concernicus.

First the mistakes:

I mashed with 6 gallons to 12 lbs.
I didn't do an iodine check.
Forgot about the protein rest.

I used a mixture of a specialty 2 row and wheat. My OG was right at 1.050. The brew was burping like a mad mo-fo yesterday...today has been a bit of a slum. Burping every 25-30 seconds. Is this normal? Have i gotten used to long amounts of vigorous burping from partial mash? Am I flippin' out too much? Should i sit back relax and have a homebrew?

Yes you are flipping out too much. Most people don't do iodine checks and most grain today is so well modified that protein rests are not normally necessary. That's a pretty thin mash, but if you hit your OG, you're golden.
