I have two 13 gallon kegs and one of the 15.5 gallon keg. I have someone that can cut the tops off and weld the couplings and know someone that is going to polish the kegs. What should I do first? I'm afraid that if I cut the tip of first all the compound residue is going into the keg. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Do the cut and weld first, then any discoloration or slag can be taken off by your polisher. You can easily clean compound out of the inside later.

It will probably be a bit harder to polish once the couplers are welded. I cut the tops first then polished then welded. Pictures of my keggles are in my build link
