Please recomend an outdoor burner

So I am giving in, I am not getting the temp I need to boil even 3g of liquid with a rolling boil with the lid off, even water, from my stove. I am going to do 3.5g all grain batches, I want a strong vigorous boil, the most I am going to do is 5.5 for now. I have a huge pot, a 42 quart, and a smaller pot, a 24qt pot, and I find that hte 24 is perfect for the 3.5g batches, and the 42 qt is perfect for the 5.5g batches and I am not going to get a new pot. So what are my options for outdoor burners? What should I be looking for? I think I need to adjust the propane on the burner so there is that, but I have never thought about this before.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
We picked up the Brinkmann at Home Depot yesterday for like 60 bucks, but a lot of that was because it came with a pretty heavy 7.5 gallon pot. Took a while to hit full boil, but I'm pretty sure there are adjustments that need to be done. HUGE difference between that and the stove though, very good investment
 
I bought the Bayou Classic SQ14 for fifty bucks (including shipping) from Amazon. I have used it on three batches now and am very happy with it.
 
I like my Blichmann floor burner with the leg extensions. There are certainly less expensive options, but it raises the brew kettle up far enough off the ground that I can drain from the kettle's spigot right into the carboy. Plus, it seems to be reasonably efficient on propane and starts a boil quickly. My only complaint is that it's a little too quiet, so sometimes you have to look at the flames to tell whether or not it's running.
 
I have 2 sq14s and they are great. I can do 13.5 gallon boils without too much difficulty. The sq 14 is also easier to adjust down to a tiny flame than alot of the more powerful ones. That is a good thing for those 3.5 gallon batches you plan on making. It will also hold a keggle if you want that in the future.

I would order it from Amazon for 50 bucks free shipping. As good a deal as you can get.
 
I assume that the sq14 I have to use outside, any idea what to do about the winter? Will it just work if I shovel off part of my drive way? I think the sq14 is what I am going to get, I am just wondering about the outdoor thing. I am also going to go out on a limb and say that I can't use this on the wooden deck by my apartment?
 
I bought a Bayou Classic SP10 from Amazon, also $50 with free shipping, and I'm very happy with it. I've done 4 extract batches on it so far and its worked great. It has a smaller cooking surface then the SQ14, but does have good windscreen protection, which is what swayed me to the SP10. Either model would probably be a good choice for many homebrewers.

I have a cheap, no-name unit that I got from Canadian Tire for 39$ including the brew kettle. It works flawlessly during winter. I even brewed in -30C weather last year. The real thing you have to watch is ice when you carry the wort back inside.

Wooden deck is probably fine unless you are near buildings, walls, small children, etc.
 
I bought the Blichmann burner because:
It's made out of stainless steel so it doesn't discolor and burn the paint like some of the cheap ones, it's quiet and doesn't sound like a jet engine like most other ones, it has wind protection for the flames, and it's overall very high quality.
