Hi All,
being from the West Country in the UK, the REAL HOME of REAL Cider (apple cider of course!) I have been given a starter kit by my lovely wife an have started my first batch last week.
I'll find the right place to put my questions somewhere i guess so i'll be off now and hunt around....
cheers and good health to all!

Well, the first answer is "Don't mess with it." :D As in, make your kit per the instructions, unless the instructions are really bad. In that case, we will be happy to help.

I say don't worry about the kit, just follow EdWort's Apfelwein recipe and you will be all set. I have made 15 gals so far in the last 16 months and I have many requests for more.

I've found making an occasional batch of cider, mead, or peach brandy helps curb my appetite for beer brewing. It's less of a time investment and money investment, and the results are always good.

Good luck!:mug:

Welcome, and even though this site is heavy on the beer side of the fermented arts we all love the yeast, and welcome anyone who wants a relationship with all His yeasty creations.

All funnin aside this site is by far the best. Like I said heavy on the beer, but there is a very active section for wine, and any other variant in between here.

May yor cider be blessed.

No problem, Cider is awesome! I'm sipping some Aspall cider right now. Not sure how that ranks on your side of the pond, but when it comes to commercial ciders here, we are pretty limited. Most of the stuff I buy here isn't as dry as I'd like it, and probably made from concentrate.

If you make it over to the Cider forum, you can find some of the thread where I've started some research into tracking down some real cider apples and maybe even planting some trees.
