I am about to brew my fourth beer. My first was an IPA kit from the Brooklyn Brew Shop that my wife got me as a gift, so I kind of jumped right in to all grain.
My favorite home brew shop is absolutely wonderful when it comes to service, so I asked if they could break a recipe for 5 gallons into 2 one gallon batches for me. "Sure, do you prefer solid or liquid malt" "Oh, no extract actually, I was looking for all-grain"
Both employees/owners and another shopper all stopped for a second to raise their eyebrows and nod with appreciation. "Ah, ok" the nice lady said with a smile, and made a call to the guy who handles all grain.
Just by using a kit I have somehow made myself part of the elite club. I dig that.
Thank you Brooklyn Beer Shop for making me an unknowing elite brewer and a novice at the same time
