I am new to brewing and my buddy and I were trying to do things low budget,
we heard that the local sub shop sold food grade 5 gallon buckets that we could use as are primary.
We went to the shop in picked up the bucket it only cost a buck so we were happy, but later we found that it smelled like pickles terribly, naturally we washed it with everything under the sun to remove the smell, it helped a bit but it still smelled, any way we were in a crunch and just used it any way.
Now i'm just worried are beer is going to taste and smell like pickels is this the case?
We figured if all the cleaners we used didn't remove it the beer wouldn't.

You will not be able to get the pickle odor out of the bucket. Just call the bucket a loss and toss it or use it for non-food stuff like yard work. Let the beer finish up though, you might get lucky and not notice it...if you try it and you taste pickle there is no hope unless you always serve it with pickles :)
