Plastic Carboy conversion

I was wondering if anyone has tried converting a plastic carboy into a "V Vessel. I was thinking about buying a carboy drilling a hole in what would be the bottom. During the transfer of wort to the carboy I would just plug the hole. Once filled flip the carboy over with a stopper, hose and valve off the carboy to be able to drain off the bottom after fermentation. The new drilled hole would have a rubber stopper with the air lock in it. I am just looking for an inexpensive way to remove and reuse the yeast. If this is overkill and not worth the time please chime in.

This definitely sounds like overkill. If you wanna reuse the yeast couldn't you just wash it out. I wouldn't ruin your plastic carboy by creating places for bacteria to harbor. Also, would you drill after you flipped it over? either way don't do it.

So you want to make a conical out of a carboy? You'll have some issues with dumping the yeast, the general rule of thumb seems to be a 60-degree sloped cone at the bottom otherwise the yeast won't slide.
