hello, I've been wanting to try brewing beer for a while, but hadn't because I don't really drink enough. Now I've decided I'll make friends and drink more! I found this forum while looking for recipe to duplicate the case of Paulaner Hefe-weisbier my wife bought me. I still have to finish off the case so I have some bottles though! I think I can follow the recipe alright, but I want to cut it in half, we live on a sailboat - so space is a premium. Is this doable, or horribly complicated?
thanks!!!

Nothing to add, other than that living on a sailboat sounds awesome!

Thanks for the advice!

Bear with me on this one, but my other idea for dealing with the space issue is to seal the jug and drop the primary fermenter off my bow with a long enough blow-off tube to keep seawater out. The bay is about 70 degrees right now, at least the york river was, it might be a little warmer down by me. (this may also be a fall-brew method)

If I can do this, I may do a full batch : D

I've never brewed, but all I can say is make sure you have a wide blow off tube, and don't put hot wort into the fermenter and cool this way, It will break if it is glass. Other than that, I can't see why that wouldn't work...

A buddy of mine does this exact thing with better bottles... he has 8 6 galls going all the time... pretty cool... I think he ended up setting up a chicken wire mesh box for them to settle in or something that held up pretty well...
