I have read plenty of threads about pitching on a yeast cake, so on Friday I am planning on pitching an Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA on top of Edwort's Haus Ale yeast cake (I used WLP 001). Here is the recipe I am working with:

OG 1.070

15.25 lb American 2-row
0.62 lb Crystal 60
1 oz Magnum (14.5%) - added during boil, boiled 60 min
1.0 oz Crystal (3.2%) - added during boil, boiled 5.0 min
1.0 oz Magnum (14.5%) - added during boil, boiled 5.0 min
1.0 oz Crystal (3.2%) - added during boil, boiled 0.0 min
1.0 ea White Labs WLP001 California Ale

I plan on using a blowoff tube because I know the fermentation will be violent. I am going to cut the bottom of the airlock to allow the krausen to flow more freely thru the blowoff tube. Yet, I am just fearful the stopper will be blown off of the bucket even with a blowoff tube. Should I worry?

RDWHAHB, I wouldn't even cut the bottom of the airlock. I would be more concerned about keeping the temperature down. Pitching on yeast cake is a plus, it just generates alot of heat. You might consider swamp cooling or another method.
