Anyone have a good source for used pin lock corny kegs. So far the best deal I can find on the net now is $86 (shipping Included) on 2. Earlier I could get them for about $70 bucks. Ebay does not seem to be a good source, they are more expensive than the company I found online. Craigslist does not produce much around here. I am about to order the 2 for $86 bucks was was hopping to find something cheaper. Any ideas?

I found mine at the lhbs for 40 a pop and cl had some for 25, depending on where you are at you may have to drive for a good deal

that is about right.

When you're researching, be sure to work in shipping.
That can sometimes bust what you think is the lowest price.

On the right track though, I bought 4..... then within a few months....... doubled my capacity.
Kegs are addictive as they make homebrewing so much less of a headache.

I got my pin locks from Beveridge Elements. IIRC the keg was 39 bucks and combined shippin would make four about the cheapest way to go. They sell em in singles, two's and four's. They were about the cheapest online supplier I could find that the price plus freight wasn't outrageous.

Ooh, nice! I may have to give up my quest to find decently priced ball locks and go for a quad of pin locks...:cross:

Why the pin lock hate? I have both, and unless a specific space is a concern, I much prefer pins.

I get mine from Adventures In Homebrewing. Comes out to about $33 per keg shipped.

looks like unless they happen to show up on CL I will be looking at somewhere around $80 for 2 kegs, i guess overall its not a bad deal, I just hate hearing that people get them from 20 a piece and then I pay double lol

I don't hate pinlocks. But after checking at the only two LHBS I know if in town, they only carry parts and connections for ball lock kegs. I was hoping to do ball locks because then I would have local places to get parts in an emergency, rather than having to order online and wait, or keep several spare parts on hand at all times (which will probably happen anyways).

The other reason is if i do a keezer build, and only want to fit 4 kegs in, then i might have to go with a slightly larger (more expensive) freezer than if I have ball locks.

Mainly the bias against pin locks has seemed to be encouraged right here in this forum. Seems like every time someone asks about kegs, people are pushing ball locks more than pin locks, or converting pin locks to ball locks. That just kind of bleeds into the newbies.

Just looked at Beveridge Elements new site. Seems they have reduced or discontinued the 4 for X dollars deals. They originally had a single, two fer and four fer that was pretty reasonable even factoring in freight. Ahhhh well, keep looking and a cheap consistent vendor will appear on the horizon to fill that void. I originally bought the kegging kit, then decided to add some spare kegs and the 2 fer was a great addition to the system from the git go. Their initial entry syste is priced just about right, and includes good quality components. Just sayin......

I have everything I need, including 2 pin lock kegs. I dont quite get the differece either other than a slight difference in size. Ball locks are a little skinnier I believe and pin locks are a bit taller, but to convert a pin lock to a ball lock I dont understand the reasoning, but to each his own I suppose. My LHBS carries both so I just ordered pin locks kegs not really doing a lot of research on it, just found a good deal at the time that made them about 30$ each including shipping. Now I am looking at $10 more per and want two more even though my keezer will only fit 3, I built a two tap jockey box so I figured 4 kegs will be plenty. I also need one more carboy so I can do 4 brews at once, but some how SWMBO may have something to say about that.

In addition to the major differences in connection systems, there are many subtle differences, such as pressure relief, lid design type of things. I chose pins since I have a very definate system design that I am building from scratch. That is just one part of the overall system, just with slightly different specs that are insignifigant for us as a brew vessel. Just my .02, but they do the exact same job, just in different dimensions, so why not save the coin?

I dig pins for one big reason... the disconnects only fit where they are supposed to... if ive had a few and am swapping out a keg and read wrong and i hook the liquid out to the co2 i get an instant back flush of beer to my regulator. Plus they pretty much lock in place so i know they arent loose
