Hi everybody! I recently picked up a NIB Z for doing test batches for my big system, and so I can brew while I'm working in my office. Question on the "Step Filter Keyhole Plug". If I am running a batch of just grain, say for starter wort, would I remove this plug? My understanding is it only needs to be installed if I'm using adjuncts or hops, correct?

Thanks!

I would leave it in. I think you water flow would be too fast and you would not soak your grains good enough to reach your numbers. Your hops are controlled by the length of time and the holes in the bottom of the adjunct compartments.
