Hi all. I bought this photo meter.
https://www.morebeer.com/products/ph-meter-phep-5.html

It states to store the electrode in storage solution. Which I have done. I put several drops in the cup of the storage capacity and I store it upright in my basement. 68degrees. However everytime I go to use it, it is dryer out with a layer of crystals all around it.

What am I doing wrong? Should I remove the electrode and place it in a sealed container full of storage solution?

Any help would be much appriciated.

Ok so I just noticed I was autocorrected from ph to phone.

I was asking about a ph meter. Uhggg.

I had the same problem with the $12 meter I use when using the black cap... from what I have read using a larger cup of solution and sealing the whole thing is what some people do...
I just store mine in RO water because well... Its a $12 meter. if its reading off I re calibrate it.

For the record, you should never store your phone meter or photo meter in any liquids.

pH meter electrodes need to be submerged in the storage solution, IIRC.

Short term storage is better with ph7 buffer than with RO. You shouldn't really store meters in RO. This is mostly true for membrane style DO meters. Iirc, most pH storage solutions are KCl, if there is a lot of crystals/salts left over you could add RO to get it back into solution and sort of reuse it so you're not ripping through storage solution. You can also wrap the part of the probe going into the storage cup with electrical tape, which may slow or stop the evaporation of the solution.
