i could really only see using it in extremely inclement weather, and also somehow you don't have way more beer in the house than is really necessary (which we all know is not the case for everyone on this site)
Yeah but what if you don't want to touch the good stuff?

I'll be in Philly the 14th. Anytime I go in it's usually for the beer, but looking for a restaurant this time. My wife requested farm to table but i usually don't like that fancyness. so, what would make us both happy? Oh, and then I'll be checking out Philly Tap Finder for what's on in places unless there is a better option

You can do both beer and food, most of the quality beer bars in the city have great food. Recommendations off the top of my head: Memphis Taproom, Devils Den, Cambridge, Bainbridge St Barrelhouse

I like your thinking.

Alla Spina. Great food and drink. And just fancy enough to not come off as a snobby beer bar to the people that are intimidated by that.

Also London Grill in Fairmount. Dem cocktails, too.

Open to BYOB? May get the best of both worlds that way and it's often great food for a great price

Good luck getting into Abe fisher this weekend. Make sure you get the ribs if you go

So heady tonight at some area bars and HF Edward and SS4 at bainbridge tomorrow...wonder how long before they are regulars down in this area

Why do you say that? Is NYC on the list before we are?
This isn't a new development. A few years ago, HF kegs made it to Philly much more often, as did cans of Heady. I think back then, we thought this would continue, but it just kind of stopped. If I had to guess, we will see kegs every so often like we have for a while now, but it won't become a regular thing.

Yeah. Heady has made it down here before in much larger quantities. At the time they were hinting at it becoming a regular thing, that they were feeling out the market here.

If you can't make that I hear Khyber would be an awesome place to hangout for St. Patty's.

Moving to Philly in June, sup yall?

I'll be working at Albert Einstein Medical Center, any tips on a cool area to live that's not too far of a commute? I'd prefer an area where I can walk to some bars/restaurants where the young cool folks hang. I'm doing a road trip in May for my graduation, HF and TH anniversaries hopefully, and scoping out the area. If anybody wants to meet up at TH or share some bottles I'm into it.

Fairmount if you can afford it. Brewerytown or Franciscville if you can't afford fancy and are okay with cool but slightly sketchy.
(fyi i'm in Brewerytown right now and love it).
I drive by Einstein every day for work. Would only be about 15-20 minutes max from those areas to there driving. Or hop on the Broad St. Line.
Fairmount has a lot of good bars, restaurants, byos. and it's pretty. and walk around-able.
Brewerytown/Francisville is right next to Fairmount so you can still walk to those places down there, but we also have a new brewery going in (Crime and Punishment), a bottle shop (Rybrew), and a bunch of new places probably in the future since the place is really developing. New Pizza Brain going in here, too. Not sure if they'll have a liquor license though.

don't be like everyone else and move to Fishtown. that place sucks.
(sorry, port fishington people)

12th and Dauphin is a great place to live

JK you'll die there

I know you asked for Philly neighborhoods, but I'm suggest Collingswood NJ. Fifteen min Patco train ride to Center City, a few great craft beer bars in the area, and your city wage tax gets credited towards your NJ income tax (I think a savings of almost 4%, not sure).

Plus I would assume cheaper rent.

Plus I would assume less stabby.

Oh yeah, no panhandlers in Collingswood. So it's got that going for it.

Not sure I'd call Collingswood "young", or home to a great bar scene.

Plus Philly isn't that stabby if you know where to be.

Plus I never see panhandlers unless I'm in Center City.

Plus Einstein is nowhere near Collingswood.

But... It's in NJ

Don't do it.
