I'm pretty sure younger has lasted forever at Monks the past few years. He gets a lot of it and it's generally $15 so you can generally go later in the afternoon to get it. Don't quote me if it's gone though.

Last time I went (i cant remember if it was last year or the year before) it kicked in 45 min.

I think they had a half barrel (as opposed to the sixtel that everyone else in Philly gets) last year which is why it lasted so long. I could totally be (and probably am) wrong though

yes, they had a half barrel, and it still was gone. frankly, they let far too many people in and you could hardly move. it was one of the most unpleasant beer experiences i've ever had.

i do, however, recommend swinging by at like 2-3PM to avail yourself of what is sure to be a stellar taplist after PtY kicks.

I'd have to guess that any announced tapping of PtY isn't lasting much longer than 45 minutes. Every time I've seen it they basically just keep filling glasses until the keg is gone, so however long that takes.

From my experience even unannounced places sell out in about. 45 min

$50? Anyone charging $30 or $40 a bomber, especially if its as a matter of habit, can go **** themselves.

You couldn't move, there was no place to set glasses down, and they were pouring full pints and allowing everyone to get one of each. It was just a disaster. After I saw what it was like there for a crowded event, I knew it was the very last time I'd go there for anything that wasn't ticketed.

FB berliners was probably the worst one I can recall, next to one of the Lost Abbey shitfests where it was 90 degrees back there and I was literally standing in the hallway on top of people crushing beers so we could get the **** out of there.

Yeah...it was just a wretched experience. It was my first time there and we got there well ahead of the start of the event. We got a table near the window. As the event drew near, we told our server what we wanted to try. It wasn't until then that she told us we had to go to the back room to get anything. By the time I hear that, it was packed from the back bar out to the main bar. The kegs had issues and were foaming like a ************. They had to pour stuff into pitchers first. Then they were losing track of which beers were in which pitchers. I seriously wanted to break ****. lol It sucked big time.

i was there too. it was insane, but died down very quickly and the front bar was fine. we got our pints and moved up to the front and chilled. that alone made it slightly more tolerable than PtY.

Out of all Cantillon (as of last night, subject to change). There are 375s of RR, Tilquin Quetsche, 3F OG and OK at ~25/ea. Some fun Oxbow beers. Oerbier Reservas.

Tom has had to limit the over-availabilty of cantillon that he used to have on the menu for obvious reasons.

Their bottle list has been **** since they sold out of Dave 4 years ago. Back in the day people used to bitch about the $25 price, but it was worth it

I was joking but was really kind of serious. Like if an elderly person in the neighborhood wanted beer, they could get it without having to trek out to the store.

i could really only see using it in extremely inclement weather, and also somehow you don't have way more beer in the house than is really necessary (which we all know is not the case for everyone on this site)
