Has anyone ever noticed a hydrogen peroxide like finish in beer. It is pretty subtle but mostly noticeable in cheap commercial lagers, perhaps because there is not a lot of flavor to cover up the off flavor. Any ideas as to the cause?

I honestly don't know what hydrogen peroxide would taste like and I've used lab grade stuff before...maybe you're thinking of carbonic acid? As the dissolved co2 goes up the amount of carbonic acid also rises through equilibrium. High carbonic acid feels kinda biting and sharp. So a really carbonated beer tends to have a little bite to it, and with light lagers it stands out more

I think maybe you're letting your macro bias get the best of you. Big cheap mass-produced lagers are more or less the most impossibly perfect and consistent beers out there.
