So I'm just starting out with kegging and bought myself a brand new AEB keg. I assumed this keg would be passivated at the factory, but now I'm wondering whether this is in fact the case?

When I got my SS Brewbucket recently that did not come passivated and I had to do it myself.

Does anyone know what the situation is with AEB kegs? Or new kegs generally? Is it common practice to passivate brand new kegs?

Thanks all!

I just emailed my main contact with AEB to get a confirmation on this. I will post a reply as soon as I receive a response.

There was an episode of Brew Strong that focused on stainless steel. John Plamer said you can check if SS is passivated by running water on it. If the water flows smoothly across the surface the SS is passivated. He brings it up towards the end of the episode if you want to get the exact method he describes.

AEB emailed me back and confirmed that these are passivated.
