Pass some judgment on Danby Kegerator

Don't know specifically about that one, but from what I have read, some commercial kegerators have no means of cooling the beer lines so the beer really foams up out of the tap. I suppose if the price is really great then throw caution to the wind since you might be able to make any problems work in your favour.

PS I LOVE my kegerator.

I have had one for many years. Mechanically it is fine. I added my own tower cooler and bypassed the Danby digital controller with a Dayton controller to better control the temperature. Other people have used resistors in parallel with the temperature sensor instead of the rewire, but the rewire eliminates some of the other electrical issues.

The factory regulator is not the greatest, but adequate.

BTW, it will hold three cornys just fine.

Hadn't thought of tower cooling as an issue, glad I asked. Is this a big deal to make something that will work, or is a relatively minor homebrew macgyver job?

My tower cooler is a 12vdc blower that I run off of the Danby 12 volt supply. Many people use a computer fan powered by an old cell phone charger or other such transformer. I'm sure if you google tower cooler it will reuslt in something. There is also someone selling them on ebay, but those are a rip off IMHO considering how easy they are to make.

In my coffin box I surrounded the beer lines with copper tubing that hangs about 6 inches into the fridge, then wrapped the copper pipes in foam insulation. Seems to work fine, but I'm not sure if you'd have room for that method.

That is exactely what I have. I am sure there are better ones out there, but for the money I love mine. It does everything I need it to do.

I took the single tower it came with and with the use of a step drill converted it to a 2 tap tower. Here is the thread if you are interested https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/best-way-set-up-3-kegs-185382/ and here is the picture of the finished product

As for the tower not staying cool and causing foamy beer.....it is true. I did 2 things to take care of that situation. First when I put the 2 new elbow shanks on the tower I increased the beer line lengh to about 7 feet, the beer line lenght it comes with is OK, but a little short. Next I rigged up a computer fan in a box that has a garden hose directing cold air up the tower. This has exceeded my expectations. I also completed my conversion with 2 perlick taps.......I can't tell you how much I love these. Let me know if I can help in any way. I hope this helps........I love my Danby.

I have just got danby kegrator dkc644bls and was warndring if it will hold a full keg or 1/2 barell ?

1/2 barrel is what most people refer to as a "full keg" or 16 gallon (it's actually closer to 15.5). A 1/4 barrel keg is what is commonly referred to as a pony keg, or 8 gallon.

According to the link to the sam's club page for the item in the OP, yes, it'll hold both sizes.

I am having troble finding the diametr of a full keg the kegerator is tall enofe just dont no if it is wide enof thanks for the input

As a general rule of thumb, anything that is sold as a "kegerator" is going to be capable of holding a 1/2 barrel (16 gallon) keg. That is, after all, the purpose people buy them for.

(except for us homebrewer nutcases, but we're an odd breed....) :D

I make my own wine and other things I would love to learn how to brew a good batch of beer i dont have a nofe room right now but might start looking in to it. but wanted to look into to this kegerator before I spent the money on the keg and it did not fit thanks for all help

I love my Danby, can fit three cornies in it and it works great. If its indoors, you can get away with just insulating the tower.
