I'm brewing my first cream ale and everything I've read suggests I should use 6 row in my mash, however my lhbs was out of 6 row. I bought 2.2 lbs of domestic 2 row and 2.2 lbs of flaked maize but now I'm questioning the ratio. Should I scale back the maize? If so by how much and how would this affect my final product?

You should be fine. It depends on the degree Lintner of your particular 2-row, but even if it's only 120, it should be good.

120x2.2=264. 264/4.4= 60.

Theoretically you only need 30L to convert, but I wouldn't count on that. I would either do a longer mash or change the ratio just slightly, but I think you'll be good.

Edit: This is a pretty good explanation and good info http://beersmith.com/blog/2010/01/04/diastatic-power-and-mashing-your-beer/
