I needed to make a starter for an American Pale Ale brew sesh and all I had on hand was dark DME to make a starter. I'm repitching Wyeast 1056 that was harvested from another american pale ale back on 2-9-12.

Will using dark DME affect the final beer? Should I refrigerate & decant before pitching to keep color/flavor out? Am I over thinking it?

Thanks for the insight and recs!

well, yeah, it will alter the color, as much as adding that quantity of dark DME to your recipe would.
