I personally don't understand the point of powdered alcohol, even after he explained all the possible applications. I do think he is 100% right about the media being ridiculous about all their psycho overreacting and how not a single one of their points is correct.
There is a video by Thunderf00t on YouTube where he also debunks all the points the media and news outlets have said. He points out that, while Palcohol is 50% alcohol by weight, it is actually 14% alcohol by volume, which is a much more meaningful representation since alcohol is never measured by weight, but always by volume. He pours tons of powder into a wine glass and says that to get 1 wine glass worth of alcohol, you would have to snort one whole wine glass of Palcohol which would be painful since it's basically just ethanol with a chemical matrix, and even if it weren't painful, snorting that huge volume of powder would not efficiently get it into your system, would not get your drunk any faster, and would be quite unpleasant.
He also points out that since vodka, rum, and other high ABV liquors are clear like water, they would actually be much easier to sneak into a location (i.e. you don't need to dissolve them in anything and, if you put them in a water bottle, people will think it's water) and the same point that the Palcohol CEO makes that it would take a long time to dissolve in water and that alcohol is simply more efficient, so it would actually be more difficult to spike someone's drink and the amount of Palcohol would not be sufficient enough to have much of an effect (spiking the drink with Bacardi 151 would be a lot more efficient, for example).
It's a good video if you want to learn more and I could post it if anyone cares.
But, even after seeing that president's video, I still don't understand what the point of powdered alcohol is. Which technically isn't really powdered alcohol since ethanol, like water, is a liquid, and the only way you can make it not a liquid is by adding a ton of something else... which is wasteful when you're just transporting it for the ethanol. And if you were going hiking, the Palcohol may be lighter, but you also have to carry the water to mix with it, which ends up being heavier.
I don't know. I just don't get it.
