Hah, so I purchased a pumpkin spice ale kit from homebrewers.com, yet they only shipped me one single muslin bag in a medium sized flat rate shipping box almost a week later.

And your not on the phone yelling yet?? That's if they have a number. I would be going postal on them! This is why it is best to buy from reputable suppliers. I guess i should say, buy from the top 3. I do that and have never had a problem. When they contact you, maybe they will ship a free one to you as well? Hope it works out.

Well since the websitedefinitely states you get:
* Complete Instructions
* 6 pounds of wheat liquid malt extract
* 1 pound of light dry malt extract
* 12 ounces of specialty grains
* 1 ounces of hop pellets
* Yeast
* Muslin hop and grain bags
* 50 bottle caps
* Priming sugar

I think you have a case against them...

that is so weak! Call them asap and get something free (other than muslin bag)! Pheonixcoyote, who are the top three you are referring to? I use morebeer, they have their ***t straight...

Yeah, they're not open right now so I emailed them and uploaded the video I took of me opening the box for them to see. I basically said I wanted a full refund of purchase price and shipping. We'll see what they do.

In the meantime, I'm purchasing my pumpkin spice kit from AHS. It's a bit more expensive, but looks like it has higher quality ingredients.

Went ahead and purchased the pumpkin spice kit as well as the ingredients (minus the light LME, since they don't have it) for my Sam Adams Cherry Wheat clone from AHS. Not bad, about $29 for the ingredients. Add a few bucks for the light LME from my LHBS and it comes in at about the same or less as an extract kit, but better :)

I refer to Austin Homebrew Supply, Midwest and Northern.

I only order from these 3 but I have had problems with Midwest's All grain kits. Twice I received the wrong kits or wrong ingredients from them. First time I ordered there Irish Red Kit and received the Irish stout Kit but with the hops for the red kit. I complained and got a credit. And the next time was the exact opposite.
I have never had a problem with Northern Brewer. Everything was shipped before they even said it would arrive and was all correct, even got some free stuff from them in a kit that I ordered, they threw in some muslin bags that I didnt even order!

Update on this:

I called Homebrewer's Outpost yesterday, and after a sincere apology by the lady on the phone about how that could happen, as well as a good laugh about it all, she refunded the full price paid. She also said she'll send me a $25 gift certificate to try another batch on them in the future.

Very good customer service.

Here's the link to the video I made of me opening the package, if you want to have a chuckle. It's just funny opening a box to see one, single muslin bag inside.

well, now that we drug that store's name through the mud…

it's always good to call and try and get things sorted out before railing on a store in a forum FULL of homebrewers, many of whom do all their shopping online (like me). Sometimes things just happen. That being said, i would've been pretty mad, too. But glad to hear they hooked you up and made things right.

And as far as the big three, don't leave Brewmaster's Warehouse out. I ordered Bee Cave Pale Ale (aka EdWort's PA) and was extremely pleased with their price, service and overall packaging. i will definitely be doing business with them again!

I'm not sure I'd call this thread mud. I never got mad (I even started the initial post with a laugh), you can even hear my voice in the video and I never get upset...more of a funny/sarcastic tone.

In any case, they did make up for their mistake and did so in a more than adequate manner.

I would say that instead of dragging through the mud, they developed a dirt clump on their face from riding so fast through the homebrewer's highway and cleaned it off quite nicely, giving all due respect to the dirt's family who was left weeping. :p

In any case, this is what forums and customer satisfaction is all about.

Look sto me like it was an honest mistake. They apologized and made up for it - more than I can say for a lot of online stores.
