Packing wine for a flight?! [emoji485] ✈️

Hey hey!! I will soon be traveling on an international flight in a few days, and I've got some homemade wine that I'd like to bottle up and bring along in my checked baggage. I'm planning on using plastic bottles for the journey, but not sure if I should leave some room at the top, or should I fill the bottle right to the brim....?

I could also use some 500ml glass beer bottles that I use for my homebrewing...but I'm thinking that there may be too much of a risk of breakage...

I have taken pressurized sealed bottles in checked baggage on conus flights with no problem, if the checked bag weighs more than 45# it will be tagged HEAVY and may be opened for inspection, I have not flown overseas in 10 years, I would suspect the rules are the same. Leaving ullage in each bottle will give a cushion against typical baggage handling, but no guarantee that any checked bag won't fall 15' from the top of a loading conveyor. Good luck

Well, whatever you do pack it in a water tight container of some sort. I got home after a flight to find my suitcase soaked in red wine because some bozo didn't pack his wine right. Not happy.
