Is it possible to over carbonate? I did a dumb thing. I used the same amount of corn sugar as I did for 5 gallons of beer, but I only had 4 gallons of cider. It was to late.

Is there anything I can do? It is already in the bottle for 2 weeks!

Did you just use 5oz of dextrose?

If so, then you are just fine. I normally like my ciders EXTRA fizzy and overcarbonate a bit. Similar to a spritzy hefe. I would not expect you to get gushers unless you also bottled a bit too early.

More like 6 ounces. No gushers yet, 5 weeks in primary before bottling

Almost 2 weeks in bottle, it is EXTRA fizzy!!!!

Well the good thing about cider is it doesn't form a head. Most brown bottles should be able to take that pressure, but you are skating on thin ice. You can chill it down really cold and it will be remniscent of Champagne in that sense.
