I ran out of Iodophor and am ready to move my Hefe to secondary to seperate from trubb and finish fermenting. I don't have time to go to my LHBS for the next few days and wonder if it would be okay to sterilize my secondary with a weak bleach soluction per TCJHB.

Any concerns about rinsing with hot water and transfering or should I just wait until I have time to pick up some Iodophor?

Cheers,

Use equal parts bleach and white vinegar 1 TBS of each per 5 gallons. Make sure to mix the bleach with the water then the vinegar. Don't mix them directly together or you will gas yourself.

Do not mix bleach and vinegar.

That being said, avaserfi has it right. As long as you mix the bleach with the water, AND THEN add the vinegar, it'll be fine. This is actually a method that Charley Talley from Five Star Chemical recommends.

Personally, I'd just leave it in the primary until it's ready to bottle. Hefe Weizens aren't meant to be crystal clear. Krystal Weizens, sure.

yeah I sanitized everything during my first batch with bleach solution, before I discovered StarSan. turned out fine. just rinse like crazy, as was previously mentioned. Also, I agree, no secondary for hefe, but that's my opinion. many arguments can be had...
