I' m jealous. Hope you had a good time. Going to Ireland is on SWMBO and mines dream vacations. Of course we live a little farther away.:D

I met a guy from SOCAL that was cycling around the coast, He'd done from Dublin up to the north in 3 weeks.

I love free stuff, especially when I can eat it or make beer with it.

Here,s a few scores from my trip.

Carragheen (Irish Moss)
Oysters
Muscles
Crab claws.

All freshly harvested and free.

That' s crazy! The farthest I ever rode a bike was 98 miles when I used to be a bicycle mechanic, and that was after drinking all night and sleeping 2 hours. All while smoking cigarettes on a 50 pound full suspension downhill bike (basically a dirtbike with no motor) and the ride was to the Shiner Brewery.:mug:

dude, this is going to be a very entertaining thread, I can just see it now!

I'll post a few picks as I get time.

I have a 4x4 van that I can fit all the gear in and a dog kennel and sleep in it if needed.
I carry fool camping and cooking gear 24-7.
Time for supplies. I had nothing ready on the HB front so I got a case of 20 Chez Pils, 4 packets of pasta and 4 packets of sauce and I filled my Mr Beer with 3 gallons of HB wine. 1 bag of clothes and we were good to go.

Day one was a 10:30 ferry crossing from Liverpool and arrived at Belfast. the Ferry cost £161 return.

The Van ready to go.

The Ferry, crap beer and very empty. I had to drive so couldn't partake.
Lunch was included in the price of the crossing but that was worse than the beer.

Looking into Belfast port.

I've been to Belfast city a couple of times before so it was not on the list for this time. I have a friend who lives in the sticks 30 minutes South of Belfast in Banbridge so we took the road south directly there. He lives in a new farm house. The guy's a typical Irish man so we get on well.

He only drinks once a week but it's for 3 days at a time. So when he doesn't drink he doesn't drink and when he does he does.

He'd sorted some good steaks and ribs out for a for a BBQ. A few beers and time for bed.

Looks like you are ready to bug out at any moment! Be prepared I always say.

What is the make of your van? Is it a diesel?

Doggies look comfortable & happy back there.

Yep the van's always fully packed and ready to go or stay or escape.
I carry 2 weeks of dried food and a few days of clothing along with full cooking and camping gear. The Van will sleep two as is plus I have 4 berth tent for extended single location stays.

It is a 2.8 litre Intercooled turbo diesel with low ratio 4x4 box and diff locks.

Mitsubishi Delica L400.

It gets me places most vans/campers can't

You have to be careful how adventurous you get though especially when not in a group.
I got that sinking feeling when I attempted the shingle beach!!!!!!!!

Yes I got out before the tide came in.
Thank god for large rocks, a frying pan and diff locks.

Sweet little machine! Gotta love off road adventures. I love my 4x4 Tahoe. It comes in very handy for my son's Boy Scout camp outs.

How's the gas mileage in it?
