I just ordered two tires and shipping was $26 ($13/tire) and this ******** wants $16 to ship a bomber.

Yeah, so blame UPS/Fedex for that. As an infrequent, individual shipper that's actually about right, particularly once you add in the cost of packing materials. For me to send a 1lb package to myself, it costs $10. A 3lb cross-country shipment is $13.50.

Yeah, some accounts get much better rates, but if you're just some schmoe who sends a handful of packages a month, the baseline cost of a shipment is in the neighborhood of $10-12.

(Also lots of online retailers, probably including your tire place, play games with pricing so that shipping isn't as much of a shock when you get to checkout. I know, I work for one.)

The online homebrew supply market being a great example, especially when some of them had various flat-rate shipping prices. It was actually kind of annoying because it made it so hard to price comparison shop.

Yep, Before finding the shop that works best for me I would build complete shopping carts and go through check out right up to paying so I could see shipping cost. The ones that advertise free, cheap, or flat rate shipping typically had the most expensive products. The store I go with has some of the highest shipping rates, but everything else is a great value so overall it works out to the best deal.

there are seve...oh forget it

Having drank several Cantillons from the 70's and early-mid 80's I can only say that anyone who is considering buying one of these is a complete idiot and deserves to be mocked. Like that guy who talked about it in the Lambic Lovers FB group who said that "many times beer is about the story, and not about the taste" and then went on to say that it wasn't really a gueuze anymore, then compared the sweetness to that of Sherry  (thatsthejoke.jpg)

The only way I'd consider a bottle like that is if JVR himself went and fetched it out of the cellar to hand to me personally.

Lol, did that happen recently? Don't want to spend too long digging through that group's archives.
