From California what a shocker. It's just too obviously excessive when you "offer" a few extras and can add if needed that you're trying to **** with people.

Have Bottle Logic traders immediately taken the crown as worst in all of California? If they've moved to a lottery system for their "BIG STOUTS" then I guess some folks are **** out luck. There are people in Seattle who are apparently considering flying down for one bottle so I guess the beer is really good? Although I can't recall a beer I've seen offered more FT than Fundamental Observation.

I'm about an hour and a half from the Brewery and I almost didn't enter. Seeing all these people say they are flying out for a SINGLE bottle makes me wonder if I'm missing somethin

If you were already looking to go on a vacation and there happened to be a beer release and you had plenty of time to do other stuff, sure knock yourself out. But these weekend mad dash brewery trips are dumb. Even if you have the money, it seems like a waste of a lot of time. Most of your time from the trip will be at an airport or on an airplane.

Who knows maybe the people who flew out to middle of no where Iowa or coming to an industrial park in Orange County are making a week long vacation out of it.

This is how I see it too. If some bottle release gives an excuse for a beer-related trip I want to do anyway, great. As in, visit a bunch of new breweries, touch tips with TBers, see some friends if any are in the area, eat at restaurants I've wanted to check out, etc. Traveling a long distance to grab a bottle, have a few beers, and split seems like madness to me.

Absolutely nothing wrong with beer being an excuse to travel. But for ****'s sake, make a trip out of it. Take in some sights. Do something outdoorsy. Explore a new city. Find a great restaurant. Unless you have all the time and money in the world, and beer is literally all you care about, I can't even comprehend flying to a place like Iowa for a few bottles. I guess there is a social aspect to it, but seems like many of these guys are just drinking whalez out of plastic cups in a Days Inn common area and then heading back to the airport.

I always try to find beer when I travel, but it's never the reason why I travel.* One of my favorite days the last trip to Japan was hiking Minoh Falls and then wandering our way to the Minoh Brewery and confusing the employees (Oh crap! What are foreigners doing here!)

*My wife would disagree about the reason we went to Brussels for two days after ten days in Spain. But she's just silly.
