Got done brewing a honey wheat and pitched the yeast and acedentally pusshed the rubber stoper into carboy. So i paniced and poured it into sanitized bucket and then got the cork out and then sanitized everythingg back up and poured back into fermenter. Total panic. Hope everything will stil ferment. And be ok. I think i really might have messed this one up.

Sounds like it'll be nicely oxygenated, if nothing else.

Shouldn't be any problems if the wort was only going from one sanitized vessel to another, and back, and you'd only just pitched the yeast.

But that's just the opinion of a very inexperienced brewer:):mug:

As others have noted you should be fine. I would suggest that the next time this happens just let the stoper stay and use another if you have it.

+1
I did the same thing on my first batch of mead, 1 gal batch in a carboy only had 1 stopper. I have since learned that a 6.5 fits just a nicely in a carboy as a 6 but is less likely to be pushed through.

I would have done that but didn't have another one. After this i can garuntee that i will habe a couple extras. Lol. I'll keep every one posted if you all are intetested.

Unless you're really picky, I suspect that the worst thing you can do is contaminate a batch with bacteria. So as long as everything was sanitized you should be OK.

I've been brewing less than a year and I've already made plenty of "mistakes". And I've happily drank every batch. In fact all my so-called mistakes still turned out better than Buds, Millers, Coors et. al.

I even had one that had an off-taste, kind of like hay, which went away as the batch aged an extra couple weeks.

Well he may not have "made" any beer yet but from the looks of his spelling he may have been drinking some:cross:

(Timmy, you know I am just giving you a hard time right??)

Keep on brewing

Brewers have dropped all sorts of objects in the fermenter with no problems. My sintered O2 stone currently resides in a fermenting APA. Or at least I hope that's where it is! :mug:

I think so, judging by the time of day it was posted...:D

Rule of thumb when buying brewing equipment, at least with the cheap stuff, if you need one, order two. Pretty much anything under $5.00 I always order what I need, plus a few extra. And carboy stoppers are like 89 cents at my lhbs. No excuse to not have a spare or two lying around.

'Cuz, well, you have to drink a beer while making beer, right? That means it's always nice to have spares. :drunk:

I finally got home and checked on the fermenter. And saw this....
The one on left is the problem one a honey wheat. Thank god for a blow off tube. It's fermenting like crazy. The one on the right is a week old crystal blond. Hope the foam goes away in a week. If not i'll bottle and be carefull not to suck it up. Thanks for all the help.
